Working in Sammamish's dynamic outdoor environment posed unique challenges for our team. The need to integrate multiple cutouts for a BBQ and sink required precise digital templating. Additionally, the natural topography of the backyard added complexity to the installation process.
The Emerald Green Quartzite, sourced from Meta Marble & Granite, demanded careful handling to prevent any damage during transportation and installation. The weight and size of the slabs necessitated meticulous planning, especially given the outdoor setting's uneven surfaces.
Furthermore, ensuring the support for heavy quartzite countertops with a 3/8" steel support plate was crucial. The structural integrity of the installation had to be maintained despite the expansive countertop layout, ensuring both durability and aesthetic appeal.
Precision Planning and Execution
Our team began by utilizing STONEEX digital laser scanning to capture the outdoor kitchen's exact dimensions. This advanced technology allowed us to design a precise template, accommodating the BBQ and sink cutouts seamlessly.
During fabrication at our Kirkland facility, we employed CNC machines to achieve the eased and polished edge profile. This process ensured uniformity and precision, which is critical for the natural stone's visual impact. The CNC technology also facilitated the creation of mitered edge backsplashes that perfectly matched the countertop's aesthetics.
To address the structural requirements, we incorporated a robust 3/8" steel support plate. This reinforcement was crucial for maintaining the integrity of the quartzite over the large, open spans of the outdoor kitchen. Our team ensured that the support was discreetly integrated into the design, enhancing both form and function.
