Marble at a Glance
Marble — the timeless natural stone for luxury surfaces
Marble has been quarried and crafted into luxury surfaces for thousands of years — from Roman baths and Renaissance sculpture to modern designer kitchens. — combining natural quartz with advanced manufacturing to deliver surfaces that never need sealing and last a lifetime.
Quarried for thousands of years from sites in Italy (Carrara, Statuario), Greece, and Spain, Marble has grown into one of the world’s most recognized quartz surface brands. Their engineered quartz is made primarily from natural quartz — one of the hardest minerals on earth — combined with pigments and polymer resins under intense vibro-compression and kiln curing. The result is a non-porous, scratch-resistant, stain-resistant surface backed by a lifetime residential warranty.
With 150+ varieties spanning the Carrara, Calacatta, Statuario, Calacatta Gold, Calacatta Borghini, and other classic Italian and Greek collections, Marble offers everything from soft whites and warm beiges to dramatic blacks and bold golden veining. The ICON collection is their latest innovation — a crystalline silica-free surface made with approximately 85% recycled content. At Absolute GM we fabricate every marble slab in our own Kirkland shop using STONEEX digital templating and CNC equipment — ensuring sub-millimeter accuracy from template to installation.

Marble countertops — FAQ
Marble countertops in Seattle range from $80 to $200+ per square foot installed. Standard Carrara and Bianco Carrara run $80–$120/sq ft. Mid-range Italian marbles like Bianco Statuario fall in the $120–$160 range. Premium Calacatta Gold, Calacatta Borghini, and book-matched slabs reach $160–$200+. Final price depends on slab origin, edge profile, cutouts, and project complexity. Use our calculator above for an estimate or request a free quote.
Marble is calcium carbonate, which means acidic substances (lemon, vinegar, wine, tomato sauce) will etch the surface — creating dull spots that can be polished out but require attention. Staining is also possible without sealing. AbsoluteGM seals every marble install with a high-grade impregnating sealer and recommends honed finishes for kitchens to make any patina less visible. Many clients embrace the natural character marble develops over time as part of its beauty.
Marble should be sealed every 6–12 months depending on use and porosity. White and light marbles benefit from more frequent sealing. AbsoluteGM seals every marble install at no extra cost using a 5–10-year impregnating sealer. Daily care: wipe spills immediately (especially acidic ones), use cutting boards, avoid abrasive cleaners. Use mild dish soap and warm water for cleaning.
Marble can work in kitchens but requires careful consideration. Pros: timeless luxury aesthetic, naturally cool surface (great for pastry/baking), one-of-a-kind veining. Cons: prone to etching from acids and staining if unsealed. Best practices: choose a honed (matte) finish to mask etching, use cutting boards always, seal regularly, accept that the surface will develop natural patina. For high-use kitchens with kids, quartz or quartzite are more forgiving alternatives.
Top sellers at our Kirkland showroom: Bianco Carrara (classic gray-veined white from Italy), Calacatta Gold (white with bold gold and gray veining), Statuario (bright white with dramatic gray veining), Calacatta Borghini (premium Italian with elegant veining), Crema Marfil (warm Spanish beige), and Nero Marquina (deep black with white veining). Each slab is unique — we recommend viewing actual slabs at our showroom or supplier yards.
Bathrooms are an ideal use for marble. They see less acidic exposure than kitchens, and marble’s cool luxury aesthetic makes it perfect for vanities, shower walls, and tub surrounds. AbsoluteGM fabricates custom marble vanities with undermount, vessel, or integrated sinks across Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland, and Mercer Island. Sealing is still recommended to protect against soap, makeup, and hair-care products.
