What is quartz and why is it so popular?

Quartz is a manufactured material made up of approximately 93 percent natural quartz mixed with pigments and acrylic resin. The natural quartz mineral is sourced from quarries where it is then processed and ground down to any grain size ranging from the size of a pea to a sand-like quality. After which the raw material is mixed with the resin, and any number of patterns and looks, are created. 

The process of mixing minerals with resin has other added benefits. the material is stronger, and more scratch, as well as chip resistant than granite. While also being naturally sealed due to the production process, meaning quartz is completely stain resistant.
